Division of International Patient Services

Our Services

Keio University Hospital accepts hundreds of patients from around the world every year. For patients who travel outside of their home country or region to receive our medical services, our International Patient Services and our Business Partners offer smooth coordination and care tailored your needs.

How You Visit

  1. Before planning your trip to Keio University Hospital
If you live in outside of Japan, request a summary letter or referrals and recent medical information from your local doctor.
  2. Contact our Business Partners
Choosing our business partners or a medical coordinator from the Medical Travel Forum (MTF) Member listed below, you start to contact one of them sharing your medical data, and to notify that you would like to visit us with your desirable dates of visit. The coordinator can also arrange your trip tailored specifically to your needs, including stays, transportations, medical interpreters, etc.
  3. Coordinating with our clinical departments
Once the coordinator contacts us, we will confirm to our clinical departments to match the physician depending on availabilities to treat you or provide you the second opinion. It will take about few days to arrange the possible dates and time of your visit.

Greetings From Director

Our department was established on November 1, 2023, with the aim of promoting the international contributions of Keio University Hospital (Shinanomachi) and the Center for Preventive Medicine (Azabudai).
It is reported that the number of foreign residents living in Japan was approximately 3 million as of 2023 (Statistics Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). Additionally, the number of people visiting Japan from overseas for various purposes is increasing year by year. We believe that it is an urgent task to establish a system that provides these individuals with safe and secure medical care and offers advanced medical technology smoothly.
To significantly improve the convenience for foreign nationals seeking medical care, we are working to address the diverse needs of foreign nationals by:

  1. Acting as a bridge to various clinical departments within the hospital and sections of the Center for Preventive Medicine.
  2. Supporting the use of English and multilingual services within the hospital and the Center for Preventive Medicine.
  3. Promoting the improvement of the English proficiency of medical staff.

If you wish to receive medical care at our hospital or have any medical concerns, please feel free to contact us.
※For foreign visitors to Japan, we also recommend the mediation of Authorized Medical Travel Assistance Companies (AMTAC).
